What is this special, perfect gift? I hear you ask, it's the "Looking Through The Plastic" book by inspiring North East author and illustrator Hannah Graham!

Hannah Graham is an author, illustrator, and mother based in the North East. Her son Peter was born prematurely at just 1lb 7oz and spent nearly three months in the neonatal unit. Through her book, "Looking Through the Plastic", Hannah wants to make a difference to others who find themselves in a similar situation. The book was created to raise awareness, offer comfort and express gratitude to neonatal care staff. Through story and art, Hannah hopes to spark empathy and connection for all who read it.

Hannah launched the book last October at Sunderland NICU, Newcastle RVI and Waterstones branches in Newcastle and Sunderland. Hannah was approached by Claire and Ailie from the Neonatal network to create a book which was very much on her heart to write. This heartfelt collaboration certainly touches so many lives.

"Looking Through The Plastic" is written with compassion and personal touch that transcends to anyone that is going through or has been through such a journey, where our babies needed a helping hand that we appreciate so much

Hannah is overjoyed to have her book distributed to all the Neonatal units in the North East of England.

Every family are able to receive the book “Looking Through the Plastic” and over the festive season, a special Christmas card was given from Hannah and Health Innovation NENC.

Hannah also wanted every staff room to receive a Christmas card and book to make NICU staff aware what a difference they make at Christmas.

“Christmas was the hardest part of the whole of my NICU stay. Initially being unable to hold my baby on Christmas morning as he was so unwell and on boxing day on a ventilator.” Hannah confided.

“But even though it was the most distressing time, the little cards, Christmas decorations and gifts that were donated were so treasured in such a difficult time
